Bitlis yarn production facilities, one of the largest industrial investments in Eastern Anatolia is inaugurated.

Eren Tekstil's investment consists of three phases in total. The yarn facilities’ foundation was laid in 2021, and it will employ 1,100 people and produce 36 thousand tonnes of yarn annually on an open area of 215 thousand square meters as well as an enclosed area of 100 thousand square meters.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan inaugurated the Bitlis campus where Eren Tekstil, an Eren Holding company, will produce yarn with a total daily capacity of 100 tonnes to increase domestic and national production. The facility's inauguration was attended by all relevant and related Ministries, the President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, the Provincial Governor and Mayor, Provincial Deputies, Provincial State Officials, Other Party Presidents, and Party Members, as well as Eren Holding Chairman Ahmet Eren. Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Industry and Technology, gave a speech at the ceremony. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the accompanying delegation toured and inspected the facilities following the opening ceremony.

"We continue to increase the qualified labor force in our territories."

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Eren Holding Chairman Ahmet Eren emphasized that the production facility aims to create sustainable solutions to the region's employment problems by adding value to the Turkish economy and the textile sector, and added: We have ever been supporting educational and cultural activities in Bitlis as much as possible." We want to help our Bitlis in the economic field by establishing this very yarn factory. Except for Malatya, this is the largest industrial production facility established by the private sector in Eastern Anatolia since the establishment of our Republic. When all units are completed, the project will cost $200 million and employ 1,100 people. More importantly, it will encourage further investments, and as a modern facility, it will serve as a model for others to follow.

However, in addition to existing measures, new measures should be implemented to encourage investors who will come to this region to make profits other than for social responsibility. We have completed our scientific study containing our recommendations on this subject and will submit it to the relevant units of our state. We hope that both the Eren Tekstil factory and the upcoming public investments will benefit our Bitlis and our country, and we thank all of the teams who worked so hard.

We are also honored and proud to see our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan show his trust and support for the region and the textile industry by attending our opening. We would like to express our gratitude to him and our state for their invaluable contributions. "

Contribution to the employment

Eren Tekstil's investment of approximately $200 million features three phases. The foundation of the yarn facilities was laid in 2021, will employ 1,100 people and produce 36 thousand tonnes of yarn annually on an open area of 215 thousand square meters as well as an enclosed area of 100 thousand square.

The first two phases of the yarn facilities that have been already commissioned will produce 24 thousand tonnes of yarn annually, and the third stage will produce approximately 36 thousand tonnes of yarn annually. The Third Stage will go live in December 2024.

The goal is to increase textile exports

The facilities aim to contribute approximately 6% of the import and export volume of 450 thousand tonnes of cotton yarn and blended yarn items according to the 2022 foreign trade data, and to increase Turkey's global competitiveness in the textile sector. It is planned to export approximately half the yarn to be produced.

The Bitlis yarn production facility is Eren Holding's second-largest textile investment.

A large proportion of the workforce is made up of women to contribute to and support women's employment.
