GANT is the embodiment of a way of life that combines the heritage of American sportswear with the contemporary, quality, casual style of Europe.
In 1914, Bernard Gant moved from Ukraine to New York. In 1949, he designed his first shirt, and GANT became the first American men's designer brand. In 1980, three Swedish businesspeople named Lennart Bjork, Klas Kall, and Staffan Wittmark licensed the GANT brand for use in territories other than the United States. They also played an active role in the expansion of the company by bringing the brand to Europe.
In September 2012, Eren Perakende took over GANT's operations in Turkey and then in Poland. GANT runs 40 retail stores in Turkey, also including its online store, and 13 retail stores in Poland.
