The Medcem Solid Waste Incineration Facility was established in Çorlu as the first Solid Waste Incineration Facility in Turkey with a total investment of USD 100 million in 2015.
The Solid Waste Incineration Facility enables the conversion of wastes into energy such as paper wastes generated in the paper production process of Modern Karton, one of the group companies, as well as treatment sludges and wastes of other paper mills in the vicinity.
In the Solid Waste Incinerator built with fluidized bed technology, wastes are incinerated with the biogas produced in anaerobic reactors, and converted into electrical energy as a proof of Group’s commitment to renewable energy.
With the disposal of wastes, the Facility makes an important contribution to the environment, the industrialists in the region and the Turkish economy.
The Facility has a total production capacity of 27.6 mw/h of electricity or 100 tons/h of steam.
